Is There a Ferry from Seattle to Vancouver?
You’re in Seattle, you’ve got a passport, and you’re staring north thinking, “is there a ferry from Seattle to Vancouver?”
It’s a fair question – water everywhere, two amazing cities, and tourists zooming between them.
But the answer? Well, you’ll probably be disappointed.

Is There a Ferry from Seattle to Vancouver?
You’re not the first person to assume there’s a scenic ferry connecting Seattle and Vancouver.
I mean, look at a map – it should exist, right?
But no, there’s no direct ferry between Seattle and Vancouver, and it throws off a lot of travelers.
I’ve met folks at the waterfront in Seattle literally trying to buy a walk-up ferry ticket to Canada – and you can, except you’ll be going across to Victoria on Vancouver Island.
Nope.
That said, you could technically take two ferries (one to Victoria, then one to Vancouver) to get to Vancouver – but it wouldn’t make any sense unless you’re planning on visiting Victoria too.
How to Get to Vancouver Without a Ferry
⚠️ Warning: There are only two daily trains to Vancouver (8:00 am and 6:00 pm) so if you need to depart during working hours it’s best to book the Flixbus to Vancouver – it’s the cheapest way and has the most departures.
In my post on how to get to Vancouver from Seattle, I go into each of these methods more in depth.
That said, here’s some alternatives to taking the imaginary ferry between Seattle to Vancouver.
