If a room at one of the Parq properties is out of reach, but you’d still like a room in the heart of the Stadium District, then this is the solution.
The YWCA Hotel is arguably the crowned king of the best cheap hotels in Vancouver, especially downtown.
The rooms have everything associated with a 3 star hotel like televisions, phones etc. However, the YWCA also offers many of the benefits of a hostel, providing guests with full access to laundry and cooking facilities.
The hotel is comparable with many of the larger chains in the 3-4 star range. In fact, for a couple or group, the cost of a room will often end up being cheaper than a hostel, with a much higher level of service and cleanliness.

The suites have all of the amenities typically associated with a modern 3 star hotel. However, visitors are also granted full access to complete cooking and laundry facilities.
This makes it a family-friendly hotel for those who’d like to save a few dollars avoiding Vancouver’s best restaurants and doing their own cooking.

Hi
I will have 2 days in Vancouver before I board Holland America Alaska cruise June 4.
Do u recommend a hotel near the cruise port or central downtown? I dont care for expensive hotel rooms. Also, can I take a ferry independently from Vancouver to Victoria for a day? Im interested in Hop On/Hop Off bus to get oriented.
Any suggestions appreciated.
Hi Barbara,
Honestly with the downtown peninsula being quite slim there isn’t much difference between what we’d call ‘central’ and the cruise port. In fact, saying right along the cruise port is optimal not only because you will have a quick walk or shuttle over, but because it gives you access to Gastown, Granville Street, and a lot of the major tourist stuff like Canada Place, the Seabus over to North Van etc.
The Atrium Inn would be the most reasonably priced of all the cruise hotels.
As for Victoria, the ferry terminals are quite far so without a car you’ll need to take the BC Ferries connector which will be around 4 hours each way. This makes it suboptimal as a day trip, though it’s doable if you just have to.
There is a float plane option which only takes 35 minutes and leaves right from the cruise port area.
At any rate, we outline all the options in our Vancouver to Victoria post.
Do let us know if you have any more questions!

Hi, I feel that Loden Hotel was been missed from your list.
Hi Julie,
