The Best Hotels in Whistler: Top Whistler Village Hotels for Skiers, Families, and Groups

An overview of the Four Seasons Resort Whistler

Four Seasons Resort Whistler – Best Hotel in Whistler Overall

☆☆☆☆☆ | 4591 Blackcomb Way | Area: Upper Village | Distance from ski lift: 500 metres

Sorry to use the term, but the Four Seasons Resort is the creme de la creme of Whistler luxury hotels.

And while it’s the only 5-star hotel in town that doesn’t offer ski-in/ski-out access, it won’t be missed. This Whistler hotel is the most highly reviewed property on the major booking sites – but there’s even more.

This opulent resort was recently named North America’s top resort at the World Travel Awards. So you’re virtually guaranteed the absolute peak level of service and amenities.

Located in the Upper Village, the resort is an 8-minute walk from the base of the Whistler-Blackcomb ski gondolas. However,  a free village shuttle is offered to remedy this issue.

The well-anointed rooms are simply immaculate, with huge bathrooms, double walk-in closets and the comfiest beds you’ll ever sleep on. The spa, fitness centre and pool also receive high reviews, with some even expressing a preference for the famed Scandinave Spa that is located nearby.

Fairmont Chateau Whistler – The Top Whistler Hotel Après Ski Experience

☆☆☆☆☆ | 4599 Chateau Boulevard | Area: Upper Village | Distance from ski lift: 100 metres

Located next to the Four Seasons, this ultra-luxurious Upper Village hotel offers all of the comfort, convenience and amenities one would expect from the Fairmont brand.

Unlike its neighbour, the Fairmont offers ski-in/ski-out access right at the base of Blackcomb Mountain. So you can take advantage of the on-site ski rentals, lessons and storage for a seamless transition from the slopes to the ideal après skiing experience at one of 6 on-site bars and restaurants.

Get pampered in the Vida Spa before grabbing a glass of champagne from the pool bar. Then relax your aching bones in one of the three hot tubs, the steam room or the sauna. This is what vacations are for.

If you’re feeling a little more active for Whistler winter activities, you can take advantage of their fully stocked fitness centre, tennis courts or even the Fairmont Chateau Golf Club in summer.

A private pod at the Pangea Pod Hotel in Whistler

The Pangea Pod Hotel – The Best Whistler Budget Hotel

☆☆☆ | 4333 Sunrise Alley | Area: Whistler Village | Distance from ski lift: 200 metres

The brand-new Pangea Pod Hotel is modelled on the unique capsule-style hotels found throughout Japan.

Here, each customer receives a bed situated in their own “pod” that is located within a larger dorm room, each of which contains their own shared bathroom.

So, in essence, you get to stay in a modern boutique hotel but only pay for the part you actually use. This is one of the best Whistler hotel deals, with single pods starting at $145.00.

Having stayed in capsule hotels in Japan, I can assure you that they’re vastly superior to hostels in terms of space, comfort and cleanliness – and this chic pod hotel is no different.

To make things even better, the Pangea is located right in the heart of Whistler Village. So, unlike the other value options on our list, you’re just steps away from the gondola.

A suite at the Mountainside Hotel by Executive, Whistler Village

The Executive Inn Whistler – The Best Ski In Ski Out Hotel in Whistler

☆☆☆ | Building B, 4250 Village Stroll | Area: Whistler Village | Distance from ski lift: 150 metres

The Executive Inn Whistler is one of the best Whistler hotels for skiing without breaking the bank. And you’re situated centrally right along the Village Stroll at the heart of the action.

The ski-to-door access and year-round pool/hot tub come at a slightly lower price point than other Mountain Side solutions. And it’s just a two-minute walk to the gondola.

Plus, every room features a full kitchenette with chalet-style roofs, gas fireplaces, and floor-to-ceiling windows.

If you don’t feel like cooking, there’s Umberto’s Trattoria, operated by famed chef Umberto Menghi, just downstairs.

A room at the Hilton Resort and Spa, Whistler Village

Hilton Whistler Resort and Spa – Best Whistler Hotel for Families

☆☆☆☆ | 4050 Whistler Way | Area: Whistler Village | Distance from ski lift: 100 metres

The Hilton Resort & Spa is located right in the heart of Whistler Village, just a 5-minute walk from the Blackcomb Excalibur Gondola.

This Whistler hotel features all of the amenities you’ve come to expect from the Hilton brand, leading to Conde Nast ranking the property in the top 10 resorts in Canada.

Here, you’ll be blessed with access to an outdoor pool, hot tub and the popular Taman Sari Royal Heritage Spa.

You can opt for one, two or three-bedroom suites complete with full kitchenettes. And the hotel offers connecting rooms, which are perfect for families. Each room features a fireplace and seating area to provide customers with a perfect place to relax after a long day on the slopes.

A couple relaxes at the Pan Pacific Mountainside Whistler

Pan Pacific Mountainside – The Best Hotel to Stay in Whistler for Skiing

☆☆☆☆ | 4320 Sundial Crescent | Area: Whistler Village | Distance from ski lift: 100 metres

Located a sand wedge away from the Blackcomb Excalibur Gondola, the Pan Pacific Mountainside is one of the most highly reviewed properties in the Village — and for good reason.

The ski-in/ski-out access, on-site ski rentals/pass sales, and extensive storage facilities make it one of the better Whistler hotels for serious skiers and boarders.

But they’re also known for their exceptionally clean rooms and extremely high level of service and amenities. Each room has a private balcony and fireplace, where you can relax and watch your flat-screen satellite television.

Plus, the popular Dubh-Linn Gate Irish pub serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner before allowing you to get deadly craic later on at night.

The Pinnacle Hotel sits in front of Whistler Mountain

Pinnacle Hotel Whistler – Best Value Hotel in Whistler for Families

☆☆☆ | 4319 Main Street | Area: Whistler Village | Distance from ski lift: 550 metres

The Pinnacle Hotel is one of the better-value properties located in Whistler Village. In spite of this, it’s still located just a ten-minute walk from the base of the mountain.

Each room has a very homey feel, with fully equipped kitchens and dining rooms. This makes them great options for families or groups looking to save a little money by avoiding the oft-overpriced Village restaurants.

This Whistler lodging finds itself in a sweet spot of sorts: it’s just off the main village streets, so you get a good night’s sleep, but it still puts you within striking distance of Whistler’s best bars and restaurants.

A room at the Westin Resort and Spa, Whistler

Westin Resort & Spa – The Best Whistler Village Hotel

☆☆☆☆☆ | 4090 Whistler Way | Area: Whistler Village | Distance from ski lift: 150 metres

Of all the hotels in Whistler Village itself, this is the only one with five stars

Much like the Fairmont, the Westin Resort has the full-service Avello Spa located on the premises for all of your pampering needs. There is also a wonderful pool, hot tub and fitness centre available to up the comfort level even further.

And with its location at the foot of the Whistler Village Gondola, you’re assured the ski-in/ski-out access that you should demand at this price point.

While it lacks the breadth of dining options of the Fairmont, each unit does have an in-suite kitchen for those who’d prefer to cook. Toss in a soaker tub and fireplace, and you’ve got the makings of a perfect ski getaway.

Whistler Alpine Chalet Retreat & Wellness – The Best Whistler Accommodation for Large Groups

☆☆☆☆☆ | 4090 Whistler Way | Area: Whistler Village | Distance from ski lift: 1.6 kilometres

The Whistler Alpine Chalet Retreat & Wellness offers guests a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

You’ll be granted the chance to stay in a $13 million nine-bedroom European-style alpine chalet that sleeps up to 16 people.

The property was purpose-built for weddings, corporate retreats or large family getaways. So your group can stay together and experience stunning views of the surrounding mountains and the chateau’s cozy interiors, which make you feel immediately at home.

Each bedroom comes complete with a private bathroom and balcony. The pool, large hot tub and massive kitchen will ensure you’ll never feel like leaving – except to hit the slopes, that is.

At first glance, it isn’t cheap. But if you factor in the normal cost of finding lodging for 10+ people in Whistler Village, it’ll begin to make sense.

The ski hill behind Legends Resort, Whistler Village

Legends – Best Whistler Hotel for Couples

☆☆☆☆ | 2036 London Lane | Area: Creekside | Distance from ski lift: 100 metres

This is the best Whistler hotel for families and couples who prefer to do their own thing away from the noise of Whistler Village. Legends is located in the quieter Creekside area, about 4 kilometres south of the village – which also has its own gondola.

Each suite possesses a full kitchen, dining area and in-suite washer and dryer, making it feel like your home away from home.

But that doesn’t mean you’ll be lacking in amenities. With a beautiful outdoor pool and hot tub, fitness centre and children’s game room, Legends is every bit as luxurious as most Village hotels.

Situated just a 3-minute walk from the Creekside Gondola, you’ll receive ski-in/ski-out access virtually right to your doorstep. Toss in an optional ski school, and you’ll have everything you need for your family ski holiday.

The entrance to the First Track Lodge, Whistler

First Tracks Lodge – The Closest Creekside Lodging to the Ski Lift

☆☆☆☆ | 2202 Gondola Way | Area: Creekside | Distance from ski lift: 50 metres

Located a short walk from the Creekside Gondola, the First Tracks Lodge is another highly reviewed short-term apartment rental complex that is very similar in nature to Legends. In fact, they’re operated by the same company.

Each Chalet-style unit has a full kitchen, dining area and in-suite washer and dryer. The fireplace, flat-screen TV and living room give you a perfect place to relax after a long day of skiing.

The two properties are located immediately adjacent to each other near the base of Whistler Mountain. So, you’ll receive the same ski-in/ski-out privileges at each location.

The Adara Hotel – Cheapest Boutique Hotel in Whistler

With its great location, contemporary features and affordable prices, it’s no wonder why the Adara Hotel has become one of the most popular budget hotels in Whistler.

Since constructing this Whistler travel resource, I’ve had the chance to partner with dozens of different hotel booking providers.
