Where is the Cruise Port in Vancouver? A Cruiser’s Guide

If your cruise is leaving from Vancouver, your first question is probably: where is the cruise port in Vancouver? And how easy is it to get there from your hotel or the airport?

You might also be wondering if there’s more than one terminal, how far it is from downtown, and what kind of transport options you’ve got.

Let’s clear that up right now 👇

Where is the Cruise Port in Vancouver?

Totally fair question—this can be confusing if you’ve never been to the city.

⚠️  Warning ⚠️: The average attraction in Vancouver is booked 42 days in advance.

Especially in high season, booking online is the only way to avoid sellouts.

Luckily, it’s pretty straightforward. The Vancouver cruise port is called Canada Place, and it’s right downtown. I’ve walked to it from a hotel in under five minutes. If you’re staying anywhere central, you’re golden.

Waterfront Station is the nearest transport hub; it’s about a 2-minute walk. Not to mention, it’s directly connected to Vancouver International Airport (YVR).

What is Canada Place, and Where Is It?

Canada Place is the only cruise ship terminal in Vancouver. It’s located at 999 Canada Place, right on the city’s waterfront.

You’ll find it at the north end of downtown, a short walk from the Waterfront SkyTrain Station. It’s next to the Vancouver Convention Centre and the iconic white sails that look like a ship themselves—hard to miss.

Here’s why this is good news:

  • ✅ You can walk there from most downtown hotels
  • ✅ You’re only ~30 minutes from the airport by taxi or rideshare
  • ✅ Public transit (SkyTrain + SeaBus) drops you almost right at the door

If you’re exploring for a couple of days before your departure, this spot is ideal. You’re close to historic neighbourhoods like Gastown and Chinatown.

Not to mention, shuttles to attractions like Grouse Mountain and the Capilano Suspension Bridge can be found nearby.

⭐️ Bonus tip: If you’re coming from the airport, the Canada Line SkyTrain goes directly to Waterfront Station, which is a 2-minute walk from the cruise terminal. Cheap and easy.

Other Tips for Getting to the Vancouver Cruise Port

  • Coming by taxi? From YVR airport, expect about 30 minutes in light traffic. Set aside 45–50 minutes during peak times.
  • Taking transit? The SkyTrain is a good bet—$4.55 off-peak, $9.45 during peak hours from the airport. Ride it to Waterfront Station, then walk.
  • Staying in the suburbs? If you’re outside the city, try to come in the night before. Vancouver traffic is unpredictable.
  • Avoid the crowds: If you can, board later in your embarkation window. Early check-in can be packed.
  • Checking bags? The porters outside the terminal are legit—tip them a few bucks and save yourself the hassle.

Last time I sailed out of Canada Place, I grabbed a bagel from Breka Bakery a block away and enjoyed it on the pier. Way better than overpriced coffee shop chaos inside the terminal.
