Turtle Hostel, Victoria BC

Turtle Hostel – The Cheapest Victoria Hostel

Price: From $23 USD | Area: Downtown | 1608 Quadra St.

Without further ado, I present to you Victoria’s cheapest accommodation. Located in an old Victorian house on the fringes of Downtown, this funky, economical hostel offers dorm beds starting at around $23 USD in low season. And most notably, prices barely rise during the peak summer tourist season.

But maybe you’re looking for something a little more private? Well, singles start at around $30 USD, with doubles rising into the low $ 50s. The rates are simply amazing for a city like Victoria, which leans to the expensive side, to say the least.

And check this: if you stay for a week, they’ll even give you a night free! So you’ll have more money to hit up a museum or take one of our favourite Victoria tours.

Is it fancy? Of course not. But the newly renovated Turtle Hostel offers safe, clean, and affordable accommodation within 15 minutes walking distance of Victoria’s top sights. And sometimes, that’s all you’re looking for.

Island Travel Inn – The Cheapest Hotel in Victoria

Price: From $66 USD | Area: Chinatown | 1850 Douglas St.

As a relatively small city, Victoria’s hostels are somewhat limited in number. So, I thought I’d present you with a budget-friendly Victoria hotel before we finish up. That way, those who remain on the fence regarding living the hostel life will also have a choice.

This budget hotel is located near North America’s second-oldest Chinatown and offers great value for your money and a comfortable stay. The rooms are spacious and clean, with all the necessary amenities, including air conditioning, TV and Wi-Fi. And best of all, they’re all private — making it a great budget option for young couples.

It can’t be denied that the décor is somewhat dated. And you’ll miss out on the social aspect of staying in a Victoria youth hostel. But that’s to be expected of a motel-style accommodation at this price point. So overall, the Island Travel Inn remains an excellent choice for travellers looking for a comfortable stay in Victoria without breaking the bank.

How to Book the Top Victoria BC Hostels

Compared to larger cities, there are relatively few Victoria youth hostels. As a result, many of the cheaper and more popular locations tend to fill up very quickly during peak season.

To secure a bed in your hostel of choice, we highly recommend booking online well ahead of time. To do so, we recommend using our partners at Hostelworld.

When building this BC travel resource, we’ve had the chance to partner with dozens of booking providers.

When it came to hostels, we opted for Hostelworld for the following reasons:

  • It is the world’s largest site for booking hostels and budget accommodations.
  • They offer the widest range of Victoria hostels.
  • They offer flexible booking for free cancellation up to 48 hours before check-in.
  • They’ve got a best-price guarantee that helps you secure the best rates available online.

Finally, if you book using the links in the article, you’ll be helping me get one step closer to my dream: doing Vancouver Planner for a living. So, any help is much appreciated 🙂
